Why we put the benches end to end
On Saturday the eight benches get pushed into two long lines, the way a shearing shed feeds its crew, and people eat shoulder to shoulder with whoever is next to them.
One board, one price, everything carved down the middle of the table. You do not choose your neighbours and that is the whole point of it.
Cards start again at nine once the plates go, at whatever tables have cleared. It is the loudest and the friendliest night we run.
